A new camera, a picnic, maybe some other new technology, and a collapsing retaining wall
Submitted by Jonathan on Sat, 03/07/2009 - 22:10
Jenny and I just got home after a most delightful picnic. I am working as Sound Designer for a show over in the Riverview school district (that's in Oakmont, PA, in case you're not from these parts). There was a tech work session today, so I was busy over there for that. I was done with my part right around 15:00.

Do odd things happen in your old house, too?
Submitted by Jonathan on Mon, 03/02/2009 - 22:25Do odd things happen in your old house, too? Jenny and I have never really felt "alone" here in our home, though we've also not had a whole lot happen that we thought was out of the ordinary. Lately, though, we've had at least two incidents that seemed to be strange.

A warm end to a cold week
Submitted by Jonathan on Sat, 02/14/2009 - 18:41Jenny and I are sitting here in our now-warm house. A few weeks ago, during one of the big cold snaps we had here, our furnace started to make a squeaking noise. Upon investigation, it turned out the noise was coming from the combustion chamber blower, which pulls cool air through the combustion chamber and then exhausts the hot air and gasses out the flue. It sounded like its bearings were going bad. We didn't have time to have it serviced right away, and it was otherwise running just fine, so we figured we could call on a day when I was going to be working from home.

Hall table finished; getting ready for Christmas Eve; we now own an awesome mop!
Submitted by Jonathan on Tue, 12/23/2008 - 22:24
Wow. The crazy multi-tagged post with a bunch of stuff that normally doesn't fit together. In short form: I finished the hall table, and now Jenny and I are getting ready for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We're hosting my family on Christmas Eve, and Jenny's family on Christmas Day. It should be fun.

Hall Table Almost Finished
Submitted by Jonathan on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 00:17I just lost this entire entry because I'm dumb sometimes. ARGH. Here we go again....
Today was a good shop day. The hall table is almost ready for finishing. Today was drawer day, and fortunately, I didn't do anything as stupid as I did just a few minutes ago when I lost this entry. :)

Middle Bedroom Has Started
Submitted by Jonathan on Sat, 11/08/2008 - 21:42Well, we've finally done it--we started work today in the middle bedroom. After I bought the house, I had originally planned on that to be the first room that I restored. At the time, it was filled with junk from the previous owner's son, whom she had kicked out of the house a while before I bought it. I first got rid of all of that, then started to clean it out. The first thing to go was the disgusting carpet. Conveniently, I was able to just toss it out the second-story window in the room, then drag it to the trash outside, without having to carry it through the house.
